tugs & pulls

tugs & pulls

A Poem by Hayley

I felt the tug, the pull

as I laid in bed with you

it was as if my heart had collapsed.

you weren't my cup of tea,

or my shooting star,

or my long lost love,

but I was yours

I felt my red love for you drain from my stomach

like washing soap down a bath tub

it was gone, just like that

one second i'm emerged in your whole being,

how you tick, how you breathe, your crooked teeth, your purple flecked eyes

now all I see is a corpse next to me,

freed of the soul that was confining itself

I seep down into the sheets, through the floorboards and out the door

you're my nothing
