memories of the boy next door

memories of the boy next door

A Poem by Hayley

you got here when I was leaving

but you left before I could go

we snuck out on our roofs at night,

soaking in the moonlight through the thick clouds

it made us invincible

we spoke in whispers

many times our voices would be carried off

by the wind and the autumn leaves

your grey eyes were piercing in the darkness,

your skin glowing

it was like you only came alive at night

the thunderstorms were everywhere around us

but not one drop of rain would hit our heads

the vast tornadoes were on either side of us

but they always let us be

until you found another one

who was just like me

only she could speak in words I could not,

tell you stories from her life on the run,

sing you songs you dreamt of

now I still sit on my roof

and my voice is still a whisper

you're not there

and now I feel every rain drop,

each one like a cement brick to my head and back

the tornadoes are moving closer and I can hear their howl

it won't be long until they sweep me away

Very heartfelt experience.
I can feel your pain as well as your love for the boy next door.
The other girl knew how to "speak in words you could not".
I am very impressed by your work,Hayley.
Write on your feelings.
