Dost Thou Know, My SonA Poem by Hayden
Dost Thou Know, My Son?
Dost Thou Know Thy father ere thy birth? That he hath killed treacherous snakes that he hath slain beasts of blood and battle? I prithee forgive me Thy soul be pure from my actions The war was for thee and all For freedom Freed from plagues and woes Freed from tyranny and villainous foes Verily I tell thee I thank thee, my Son Thou fueled my fire Under the grace of My Majesty Who sits on His Throne I live and take breath And disperse unto thee Like My Master who hath done for me But I'm not like He I'm nothing like He For He hath uttered words of destruction Freed from damnation Only for us Dost Thou Know, My Son? Dost Thou Know Thy Father ere thy birth? If thou even existed, my own Son. But thou never were. Only my Master's Son existed. I prithee forgive me like He did.
