Despair

It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!

It hurts so much,

It feels as if a knife pierced my chest...

My instinct immediately kick into flight.

I try to run but

it’s futile,

My legs have long given up on me.

Its impossible I tell myself,

after all

my whole body is being pulled down by a force,

 stronger than gravity.

Help! I try to shout,

but no words come out.

The pain is too overwhelming for me to shout.

What`s worse, I can`t breathe.

I`m drowning, even though I am not in sea.

Naturally, my vision starts to fade.

A great way to show how emotions are capable of impacting us. No matter how hard we try to fight them, they just come right back, sometimes even stronger. Your poem sort of reminded me of this one:
