Heartlight

Heartlight

A Poem by Jo Zapata
"

Going to meet a lover...

"

Heartlight

Your heart sends out a light

      yhat cannot be denied

by me nor anyone who sees you.

Im not sure I like that either,

for I like to always be

      the one in control.

Yet the unfilled space inside me

      Recognizes that, at last,

Its 32-year ache has been eased "

and can eternally be ended

if I can just learn to trust

      the source.

By the Spirit!

      Ive been so long denied,

      so cruelly hurt, so often!

How can I ever voluntarily

      make myself vulnerable again?

By the Spirit . . .

      please allowme the chance "

      one more time . . . ?
