Peanut

Peanut

A Poem by Jo Zapata
"

Tom by another name.

"

Ode to Peanut

Oh my brother,

though different mother.

Different father,

But still my brother.

Your silly nickname,

Your claim to fame,

Given by nurse

The moment you came.

You made us laugh,

You made us cry.

You made us angry.

You made us sigh.

How we’ll miss you!

Dear hated Peanut

Safe journey I wish you.

How you picked,

How you kicked,

How you raged

When you were licked.

But deep inside,

Underneath your hide,

You loved us all,

As you sailed the tide.
