Medicine DanceA Poem by Jo ZapataMedicine Dance Sweeping from the ground jumping toward the stars stirring together life swishing away the wars. Swirling and mingling with the music in my blood, stepping out the lyrics in the moss and in the mud. Breathing in the energy slipping through my skin, breathing out the spirit of my ancestors and kin. I feel the moonlight take me to places I can feel. I am a feather of the hawk, my breast sends out its screel. All life is One, part of Another. With Earth we love, with Earth we suffer. Wheeling out then whirling in. My body joins the Medicine Wheel's spin..... Hawkspirit 11/9/99 1:40 a.m. San Antonio © 2011 Jo Zapata |
