April Showers and Streets That SingA Poem by havok965close the door and drive away in a haze of annoyance, let me be sucked in by the hollow streets and get lost in a city with one zip code, a city of no skyscrapers but plain yellow lights, spread like blinking caviar accross the ground- the hollow, hollow ground sidewalks, streets, and gutters, that match my heartbeat and the tempo of my breath- short because that's how you left it when you drove away and didn't slow down and made the sky angry enough to spill her guts on me, already drenched with questions that you spat across the seat into my lap, questions that stain and give this third spring a sudden lasting chill, and the streets a song of their own, of the dark, of questions like, 'why?' that i can't answer except to say i love you i love you i love you and sink to my knees and give my palms to the sounds of the concrete and for once just not be heard because your home by now and dry. © 2011 havok965Reviews
