The Saint

The Saint

A Poem by Chris

Please young ones,

do not shed your tears.

Please be strong,

crying lets them know your fears.

You must be strong now,

for you have seen lives taken away.

You must live on now,

do not allow this to ruin you in anyway.

Come now dear boy,

a path has been placed before your eyes.

Come now innocent girl,

before your feet a future lies.

Both of you must look ahead,

but never forget what happened here.

Both of you will be okay,

for you no longer have anything to fear.

All the bad has left in a single night,

with the lives taken within these rooms.

All the good shall remain,

let us leave now for the evil still looms.

Just run now,

standing here in sadness only brings sorrow.

Just leave now,

with sadness comes a worse tomorrow.

I believe that good shall liberate them,

they shall be absolved of their sins.

I believe my chapter is over,

but their story just begins.

For I stand here,

bodies all around me.

For I shall take the blame,

so the children can live happily.

Chris this was a really great piece!!! I loves it. I like poems that are more than just some overarching message buried in metaphor but also tell a complain story an this one was both!..the hope of young ones who still have tons of life ahead of the them to still attain happiness even if they've seen pain. The sacrifice we must sometimes make for the youth to prosper.
Loved it

Chris, This is beautiful, iy can be taken in so many different ways, to so many different people. But to absolve the children regardless what a wonderful idea. At least try to make them believe the can walk away from all the bad unscaved. It never is an easy thing to do is it? Convince the child that they were not at fault. Emploding with imagery, and soaked with emotions. GREAT piece Chrtoph.
BRAVO BRAVO xoxo
