Level ground

Level ground

A Poem by Travis Lawrence

slipped back broken to assured solitude and smoked high

occupied time blends wasted of dead ideals

sharpened tones staple notes of past blissful presence

climbed and fallen back to shackled level ground

ticking hands stay geared and spotty

broken watches time won’t break

any instant of gratitude like solidarity

slowly sinks back ditched for time alone

known no bright sourced shadows hiding light

covered densely opaque by spites of loneliness

missed since sunshine shown as my soulful exists

golden like yellow wavy underwater blue rays

burned and breathing smoky stale weeds

slipped past counts of minute hands for hours

senses parted sight from sweeter sounds

curved only smooth upwards on music waves

wasted cells die to shed and rest in silent places

like tiles cracking concrete at perimeters

shaped like diamonds set in twisted squares

collected peace in dirt and lost wiry black hair
