The Jazz House

The Jazz House

A Poem by Travis Lawrence
"

Bitter and sweet alcoholic drinks

"

One more round slips down

poison through my throat.

A mini crown and coke,

two bombs of Jagre,

three Boulevard Wheat beers,

with lemon citrus floating sour.

A few spins and a stroll

home with two old friends I go.

A reminisce of past nights,

two Simpsons episodes on DVD,

three one-hit bowls a piece,

with a crystal green flavor.

Time left with the exit’s cloak,

and tired tears swelled lonely, not alone.

An aching love sick stomach,

two poems read before bed,

three songs to help me sleep,

with a slow and melancholy tone.

Isn't it funny how lonlieness refuses to be numbed by artificial subsitutes? You did an amazing job conveying this. I loved it!!!
