Lighter Dreams

Lighter Dreams

A Poem by Travis Lawrence
"

Sleeping in

"

I open my ashen eyes,

introversive in the morning,

and say, “f**k it,

keep sleeping.”

I let the light bulb

stay lifeless and dusky,

smile, cushy and serene, wrapped

in the dark’s warmest blankets.

Airy and interminable thoughts

drift into lighter dreams,

eventually, whenever

they chose to appear.

Too bad they float

so high when I’m grounded.

I can only believe them

in the dark.

Lately, I’ve been so high

that I can see them in daylight,

and wonder whether what I see

is real or a dream.

I think I should quit

sleeping, and dreaming,

and start living

my only life, above the clouds.

Maybe, I’ll find a wife,

or perhaps, I know her

already, like a flower seed

planted in a gray January.

Insomnia is for the strong,

I’ll make it last.

Travis, I love this! I love the presentation, and especially the verse...

"maybe I'll find a wife
or perhaps, I know her
already, like a flower seed
planted in a gray January..."

I shall add this to my favorites! Shall we be friends?

Hugs,
Kelly
