Guidance

Guidance

A Poem by Travis Lawrence
"

What will I be?

"

They once asked me

what I wanted to be.

But, I’m only thirteen,

I couldn’t say surely.

No, I won’t agree.

How can I see

who I will be

when I’m 23?

So pardon me

for not participating

in this ludicrous activity!

They said they’d fail me,

but I got a B.

I smiled, merely,

so cheerfully.

“He’s right, certainly,”

they admitted, candidly.

Hehe.

But now I’m 23,

almost, and lately,

wonder what I’ll be

even tomorrow evening.

And, what about at 33?

Ironically,

time these

words are wasting.

Lost a little lonely,

I can’t believe,

but at least

I can think.

Very nice and creative. I like how it's a progression, yet stays relatively the same. My favorite line is "wonder what I'll be even tomorrow evening." Nobody knows what will happen. Life is unpredictable, and I like the way you conveyed that
