The Vastness

The Vastness

A Poem by Travis Lawrence

At times, my interactions with people

keep me awake all night.

Not held, nor spindly released before sleep

like thin red sewing thread

worn as a cast, but trapped and covered

by fragility in the vastness.

Copious to the life compressed,

we seek to sojourn this spark,

take the flame and harmonize

the waves with the ocean.
