The Long North

The Long North

A Poem by Travis Lawrence

Calm lands fall to our north,

far from home where we settled down

like swallows flying.

We sailed atop solutions for building

bicycle rides on longer days,

the sweeter air I used to breathe,

the greener trees I used to see

are the sound of snowy mountainsides

with black shadow sights

covered by plane paths

speeding forward with no glance,

only gray back drops.
