An Unrequited Love

An Unrequited Love

A Poem by Nobody
"

This one was written in the summer of 2007.

"

The moon pulls the tide
and the tide
will forever be denied.

She throws herself
face down on the shore.

Cursed.

The moon
will be out of her reach
forevermore.

Excellent image.
The image of human aspirations which somehow will never be totally satisfied. And yet, of the wilfull human being who will always try. This short poem reminds very significantly of the human being who is lost in time (the moon which measures the month/time) and space (with the sand/berach which represent the earth) with a love, an energy, an interest for someone or something else which is immense and overwhelming. And which is not returned. Something which we all have experienced and of which we should not be ashamed of. The image of the woman throwing herself to the waves/tide is very powerful too!
Thank you for the talent, for the immensely speaking symbols!

It's as if the tide stripped the words from the poem itself, and all it left behind was the loneliness of rejection. I really dig your style... such an economy of words, yet so full of emotion.
