Author's Note

Marie Anzalone
hickory nuts may be one of the most under-appreciated delicacies on the planet. I love to harvest them this time of the year, crack them open, and savor their sweet, milky interiors. Rich as a Brazil nut and sweeter than a macademia... oh they are so good. One of these days I shall throw a harvest party and treat my friends to homemade hickory- maple ice cream...

I have never had any, but I will take your word for it. I like this piece. I don't think it is wholly traditional, but it has your own unique flair to it.

I loved this! It was very well done and in true haiku spirit. Plus...it made me hungry. :)
