poem: Written for a Living Poet 1: Question of SpiritA Chapter by Marie AnzaloneAmong us all, perhaps only you could look God in the eye and tell him the truth: He needs to ask our forgiveness for what is required to maintain us. Namely, our spirit in a realm that rewards most, its opposite, its subjugation; delights in its, and our own, annihilation. With the grace of Mary and twice her world weariness, nobody here ever heralded your arrival. Observing from sidelines and shadowed heart spaces you would still pick up the magnifying glass and mirror, then perform the painful midline self surgery in order to pronounce judgment on your own soul. You would divine the hardest questions of all- and save us from the complications of asking, for our selves- how much result of all the hubris of our experiments in living ever makes it worth the cost we pay in any measured currencies. You would teach humility to the grandiose, and bigness to the downtrod. for Vesa, with reverence © 2015 Marie AnzaloneAuthor's Note
