poem: love simplified

I need you

to help me

stumble upon

the greatness

that was placed

as a hidden obstacle

in all of our

daily paths

but that I

kept walking over

without

ever noticing.

It's just that

you make me

want to look

deep in the earth

for such

beautiful things

so I can give them later

to you.

thanks, Horizon... I remember going to a psychic reader once. I walked in the room, and she looked at me and said, "goodness, I need to sit up straight. the Elders just arrived with you."

That's kind of how I know I love someone. He makes me need to sit up straight, mind my manners, and be more of myself than I thought I was capable of being. It's all there, waiting to be unearthed. By law, we are not allowed to know our own power. We need others to help us unearth our own treasures. Not necessarily lovers, but they dig the deepest if we let them.

We are not allowed to know our own power... Fascinating thought, as the self always becomes more clear when seen through/ seen through the eyes of another, one who is actually looking... And those who profoundly touch us and change us indeed do not have to be lovers, I so agree, as I know, aside from my parents, the hand that most sculpted me was a man neither a friend or lover, but a teacher/mentor who gave me so many things I did not know I was looking for... I still need to write my heart letter to this person... And I am so fascinated by the thought of psychics... I would try one too, if I knew the person was true... Anyway... I hope things are ok with you...

write your letter.. for these people in my own life, I write/ have written several. We often wait until the person is dead to write their tribute, but I think that is a mistake. We should honor them today, in the here and now, for what they are to us today. That may change tomorrow, but tomorrow, we can write another letter.

I wish you luck... I have had several of these fragile creatures enter my life at some point or another, just like you describe. Some here, some other places. I have found that they have a remarkable ability to teach your spirit to dance if you are patient and gentle with them. I will be thinking of you. :-)

Can I just say this is amazingly tender and beautiful? I miss writing love poetry, If I could write a love poem it would read just like this one :)

Ahhh but there are some who make the argument that ALL poetry is love poetry; for if you have enough passion about it to put thoughts to paper, you manifest love through the act- even anger and protest and hate poetry and poetry about pencils and wood shavings. All love.

and even poetry written about old loves so that the new one will realize that there was at least once in the past that someone found her worthy just to get their attention, but poetry like that usually backfires , I did that once , tried to make someone jealous so they would notice me, he hooked up with someone else because I appeared unavailable lol, or perhaps saw right through my childish ways, in either case, poetry manipulation rarely works, but then some poetry is just poetry about what one knows and in that case as experience or hell just something to write about if your desperate for a muse, I tend to think straight up sickening love on the sleeve is the way to go now, at least it's honest, even if it hurts a little.

I find that a romance for me is true when the person makes me wake up every day, wanting to be the absolute best person I know how to be. That entails a lot of digging, a little exorcism, much healing, and infinite patience. I find that the right person makes all that work worth it, no mattr if it be for a single afternoon, years, or a lifetime together.

you remind me of the big bang.. the closer we look into creation of life the less we truly know, the faster we try to run to a rainbow the farther it becomes, the more we shine a light into a diamond the more facets are revealed.

Thank you again, Antonio, for your kindness. The realization I wrote about has come to me through many years of trial and error. As for someone who could share that with me... I had one such, but lost that person. I thought another was, but we were meant to teach each other, other lessons. It happens that way sometimes. You yourself are full of grace to be able to see it. Be careful of setting others upon pedestals you think you cannot reach. In many cases, we mistake seeing ourselves through others' eyes as omniscence, when it is merely recognition.

It is so good to hear from you again!
To answer your question, it is simple, really. All one needs to do is have the heart broken and the world stripped away enough times to let grace fill the soul where the cracks let in the light. This is, of course, far easier said than done. I figure I am perhaps on the first rung of a ladder with an infinite number of rungs.

Thanks, Michael... I think that love makes us simply want to be the best we can be... to give something back to our partner, and by extension, our world. Anything that does not expand us is not, by definition, love.

The Dalai Lama says that the willingness to share in another's grief is the practice of compassion, while the desire to share of one's joy with another is the practice of love. I find myself doing this... searching out joy in small things to share with those I love.
