Celestrial Plight

Celestrial Plight

A Poem by harlem_knight

We were sinners
That still ain’t stop God
And we prayed and we prayed for a better life
But we were too involved.

We were sinners
But that still didn’t stop God
Each night we called on him to end all this Not knowing exactly where we started

Forgiveness was unfamiliar
Well, because we were sinners
Who couldn’t tell the difference
Between pois and poison
With where we are and where we belong.

We were puzzles short a few pieces
We never really knew until we were near completion

We were stars in a galaxy that didn’t care enough to follow us
Is a star still a star when the planets pick their own direction?
When our parents made us aware of our misdirection
We became sinners, yes
But that still ain’t stop God

We reached for terrestrial lights
Because we failed in comparison to that kind of bright
and when we touched it, we laughed with scorched hands

We left dust trails everywhere we traveled as if to say “we were here”
Where ever here was…
We moved on
Letting lightyears pass us by
We drift along
Following the darkness to a home
