Past/Present

Past/Present

A Poem by harlem_knight

I wanted you back like yesterday

Longing with grief and regret

We met, then parted ways like waves

We were not strong enough to stand the tide

And the moon is unforgiving.

I still want you like sanity

You fill my head with thoughts unfamiliar to myself

And the pills never are enough.

Clearly I am out my mind

I loved you like a science fiction novel

With all the magic I could muster out

My wand, we killed dragons together

And lived happily ever after

I still love you like a horror film

Anxiously, nervous,

hoping the black guy doesn’t die but still expecting it.

Run darling, save yourself.

My favourite line is "I still love you like a horror film". It is so powerful and refreshingly new. Good poem
