Welcome to NYC

Welcome to NYC

A Poem by harlem_knight

My nyc hasn't been too good to me
She sections me off in back alley streets
Under low light and static from tvs
My nyc ain't all its cracked up to be

My nyc hasn't been to good to me
She abandoned my dreams prematurely.
She built a fortress around me ignoring the fact I was caged in.

No my nyc is no walk in central park
It's more of a jog through 125th and lexington. With feelings of anguish and crimes that noone witnesses.

My nyc doesn't go by manhatten, or east harlem, or west harlem, or any other gentrified criteria. My nyc doesn't mix well like oil.

My nyc goes by hood, slums, projects, hell.....but even there God exists.

My nyc is much different than the tourist attraction in those there papers
I wonder if they ever visited my nyc, would they be so eager to stay, or would they want to leave. Honestly I wouldn't blame them in either case.
