I am
Watching sunrises Through my dreams Inside a tent In Tankwa Town I pick up wildly sculpted rocks From the ground That come from somewhere Far up in space As far as time can bend. And as I chop my hundredth onion, I start to cry, Thinking of all those hungry DPW's Working hard in the desert nearby. In the mirage in the distance, Funny structures Start to take form. Hot days And hotter nights. With kettles on fires And 3am coffee. Sweating over hot stoves In midday heat. Thorns break my concentrated Toilet trek, Cigarette hanging out my mouth, Two birds, one stone, No time to rest just yet. © 2018 Heather Rodwell |
