Fear Itself

Fear Itself

A Poem by Nicole Leigh

Religion

Lost in the sea, was a lonely me;

Rapture, for sure, did not come.

I ran just to wait and hid by the gate;

While the cross went and put out the sun.

Guns

Shiny black

force my head back

Was the reason that I went along.

Spread clean apart

on an old shopping cart

I strain but I can’t hear that song.

Alcohol

Years ago I’d wiped it clean,

The slate that lived addiction.

Feeling’s gone and I’ve moved on

To a brand new abusive conviction.
