You Reminded Me

You Reminded Me

A Poem by Richard Dotson, Jr.

Your actions as of late have reminded me.
They made me recall your maliciousness that blinded me.
Damn, you could’ve been smoother instead of being an iron maiden.
You say you wanted to be treated like a queen? Get another fool cuz I’m not a jackass in waiting.
To think, I was willing to spend my free time with you in New Haven.
Damn, what was I thinking? Dealing with you will cause an emotional cave-in.
I’d have a better chance getting struck with Thor’s hammer than earning your respect.
Looks like you need a new flunky since I’m not your prospect.
The war’s on now. No punches held, and there’s no since of a truce.
I may not have all the grapefruits and oranges, but I still got juice.
Your attitude will make an escaped felon return to a halfway house.
Your vice grip on your little life will make no man desire to be your spouse.
Maybe on day you’ll realize the errors of your ways and come to your senses.
I hit the ball with all of my might, but I couldn’t clear the fences.
But now you’ve returned, almost full circle.
You can be caring, but annoying like Steve Urkel.
So what I made a comment….you shouldn’t have stewed.
The pain you caused was like a spell a witch brewed.
I’d rather be at peace instead of having a silly feud.
My anger is continuous play with no pausing or musical interlude.
It’s funny cuz I still have some feelings for you.
I try to lock them away, but underneath a lie is always the truth.
So where do we go from here? What do we do?
Just remember I always kept it real with you.
The only thin I can do is reminisce since the thread has been unwinded.
Your mental stability will forever be encases in my cerebellum and anytime I feel your wrath, I’ll always be reminded.
