There Is a Light That Never Goes OutA Chapter by Hasventhran Baskaran60 DAYS AGO 23rd December 2018 22:48 p.m. “And
if a ten-ton truck kills the both of us, To die by your side, Well, the
pleasure, the privilege is mine!!! Wow, wow. The Smiths are brilliant, aren’t
they?”, an unknown man was humming the early 90’s hit song. The entire room was lit with diminish orange
light. There was a graveyard like hush spread across the room. Overwhelming
breathing and the drops of tears were the main noise made. The house owner lady
was startled of the incidents that just took place. Death was a couple of
minutes away from her. She was stabbed multiple time all over her body and was
bleeding heavily. Her blonde hair was soaked in her own blood and appeared red.
The pain from the stabbing was unbearable. Her attacker was cool about it and had no
mercy on her. He stepped on her head and lit a cigarette. The injured lady
slowly opened her eyes that was sticky with drying blood. A silhouette appeared
to her through the cigarette smoke. She tried to push his legs away from her
head, but she was too weak. “Please don’t kill me and take whatever you want”,
she begged with low voice. He replied with an evil smile that betrays all
innocence. “You think I’m here to rob you? Hahaha, what a fool. That is not my
intention. You do not have to know why you are dying. Die with suspense. That’s
more thrilling”, he spoke in a deep voice. There was an Indian slang in his
English. He grabbed a bottle of fresh orange juice
from her fridge and sat beside her. “Listen here. I do not want you to die
immediately. I want to enjoy every single minutes of your death. So, please die
slowly. Put up a good show for me” he smirked at her and took a gulp of the
orange juice. He stared at her eyes that was closing slowly. She was moaning in
agony. Slowly, she gave up fighting for her life. Her blood was draining out
and her heartbeat became slower. She exhaled her last breath as he was watching
her with felicity. “Come on! That was too easy and fast. I expected a longer
showtime”, he sulked looking at her Enough for today, he thought to himself. He
washed his blood-drenched hands and left the home at Serdang. He was not afraid
of leaving clues behind. It seems he was purposely exposing the clues open. He
had different intentions behind the murder. He was trying to prove something by
gaining attention in the most inhumane way possible. He knew what he was doing
even though it was wrong. It was the right thing for him to do. Giving self-justice,
he thought when he murdered the Serdang lady few minutes ago. “Nat, you are
next”, he smiled to himself. © 2022 Hasventhran Baskaran |
