Undeserved Loyalty

Undeserved Loyalty

A Poem by Harshini Rajachander
"

About a dog and his master.

"

Undeserved loyalty

She scampered after me,

seemingly faithful since birth.

I walk about, not unlike

Any other mindless human drone;

Incorrigibly stuck within my

Inane thoughts and many a worry.

She waits patiently,

Tail a-wagging,

Her eyes shining,

Drooling, expectantly.

Sighing, I take a seat,

And she places herself at my feet.

I pat her head with impatience,

But all she wanted was just once,

To be acknowledged by whom she loved;

The master, who never learned.
