FRIENDS

We always walked on the fragile line

But we were always there for each other

Today this cold attitude of yours

Sends a chill down my spine.

Because we were once friends.

 

We always joked about

Life was so pleasant then

When to make me laugh

You often fooled around.

When we were friends back then.

 

Back then, not a day passed

Without talking to each other for hours

These days, we don't even say Hi

Whenever we see each other.

Cuz we are no longer friends.

 

Now you have moved on

And so have I in some ways

But I don't understand why thinking about the past

Makes my heart ache so much.

Cuz may be I still wish that we were friends.

 

So much has changed since then

We don't even

Look at each other now

And why

should we even

When we know that we are no longer friends.

 

I don't know what it was

Whether it was you

Or was it me

Or was it the fault in our stars

Whatever it might have been

But time gave our friendship many scars

Scars that can never be healed.

Not today nor anytime soon.

May be that is why we are no longer friends.

 

Whatever happened

I regret every bit of it.

I'll never be able to get this feeling out of my heart

That if I hadn't done what I did.

May be we would still be friends now.

 

I'll never be able to forget any of it.

All I can hope is that you'll forgive me some day

For what I said

For what I did

I hope you know this

That if I could,

I'd change everything right now.

All I can do now is hope

That may be someday we'll be friends once again.

Very nice and thought provoking poem. Sometimes you don't need rhymes to convey a thought. Some of my favorite poems don't rhyme and they're still beautiful.
