Rebirth

You’re my angel after the darkness swallowed me whole. 

The light I thought I’d never find

My heart was shattered, I lost my soul

With just a smile you soothed my mind

Because of you I found the pieces 

Because of you I start again. 

You may not always be right by my side

Still your warmth fills my heart

I smile, such intense joy I could never hide

You make me happy, nearby or far apart

I’ll never be able to repay you

My angel who fixed what someone else has broken.

I agree, the first stanza is superb. The second feels slightly choppier... although it may just seem that way because of the first stanza's beauty. The assonance "The light I thought I'd never find" is very poetic, and the unrhymed final lines in both stanzas are an original touch. Well done.

Excellent and unique meter and rhyme scheme! Very much sad in a happy way and it reads terrifically, especially the first stanza.
