Ramblings Drei/ Cigarettes

Ramblings Drei/ Cigarettes

A Poem by Harlotte Crow
"

Although the original Ramblings is not posted, here is Ramblings Drei (Cigarettes).

"

I stood before a firing squad.
Convicted of the felony love.

I was told I could hide my eyes.
They examined the barrel just the same.

I was shown a pack of cigarettes.
Standard protocol before the trigger.

Eyes welled with tears, I snatched them all.
F**s, lighter, then fell to my knees.

A cigarette for the day we met.
Another for reunion.

A cigarette for the smiles we shared.
Two when laughter ensued.

A cigarette for heartfelt moments.
And one for being apart.

Finally someone pulled the trigger to mend my broken heart.
