Ponderings Quatre

Ponderings Quatre

A Poem by Harlotte Crow
"

Another addition to the Ponderings set

"

In malice the sun stabbed the clouds…

They bled red.
Like anger it permeated the sky.

They bled a mid-blue.
Like sorrow it dripped through the air.

The purity of the clouds faded to grey.
The pastel of the sky moved on.

The blood of vengeance trickled forth in waves….

In hues of crimson.

The agony crashed ashore.

In deep hues of blue.

The melancholy rolled over deceased.

As day turned to night they merged.
Purples were born and stars witnessed the purge.

The moon, she wept for this display of depravity.
The sun could not hide this heinous crime.

He extinguished himself.
In an instant the earth went cold.

Oh so cold…

The Milky Way spilled over this tragedy.
Andromeda changed her course.

The Universe has a broken heart.
The black hole that is now our sun has lost remorse.

There is a sublime visionary bleakness here. Yet, for me, the most interesting aspect is that once all is done, gone, the eye and voice of the poet are, somehow, still there to witness and record said extinction with a sense of matter-of-fact stoicism.
