Ponderings

Ponderings

A Poem by Harlotte Crow
"

This is the first poem that sparked the Ponderings set. Originally called Changes, I decided to let this become a series of continuous thoughts about anything and everything.

"

Jagged wires race through my veins
Every day I turn a blind eye

The ups and downs are
Destroying everything I have

No one can see
Through the opaque veil of me

I am the chaos and destruction
That’s left in its wake

The brutally sodomized abused,
Confused, beaten and shamed

Every day I lie

Every day I smile

Scratching to escape the daily grip
Feels like the grip itself

Freedom is an illusion here
It’s always watching you

Watching you to botch you
Watching you to break you

The world is on its side
You are the spectacle to wither and die

Entertainment never comes cheap
The body is made to suffer for days on end… weeks

So much has changed
I’m not the same

Who is this host
Who is this mind

This very different to the others of yours I've read. Must more sombre and leaner in expression, literally, their being fewer words. Serious stuff. How things are stuff. And things are not all that good here.
That said from the outsider's point of view, pain does make for some great art and there are a couple of fine lines here. I esp like the notion of the effort to escape becoming part of the thing to be escaped from. Love that notion. Very strong. I also like the notion of the world, I read this literally, being on its side. Hello World! What happened to you then? Though I sense you meant world as in people, the public, a sort of mocking bully.
I also like the sign off lines. Oddly, it feels like the word 'mind' rhymes with something, but I dunno what. Phps 'blind' up top. The notion of a blind mind might be in keeping with the confusion described. Made me think.
