Revelation (End of a Masquerade)

Revelation (End of a Masquerade)

A Poem by Phantasmagoric Perceptions
"

That is what i really am.

"

Color fades all to black
And the curtain lowers on this charade
We take off our masks
And turn to meet face-to-face

I hesitate to let you see
The girl behind the smoke and lace
What would you think of me,
The person you've always had to chase?

I prepare to run to spare myself
From the look that your eyes will get
When you meet the hideous creature
That you have not seen yet

I feel a touch on my shoulder
And I freeze where I stand
How could it be that you make me feel?
Paralyze me with a touch of your hand?

The masquerade is up-
And I turn and let the mask fall
I look up to meet your eyes-
And there's no one there at all.

An interesting ending and not one I expected. Could be taken in different ways. Well done.
