Shotgun KissA Poem by hardluckbabythe perfect first kissI threw away my broken ship before you even met me. I don't mind walking a hundred miles or so Just to be near you.
And I could wait forever, long as you say you're coming too.
And all these things that I do - Stare at the ceiling, Walk around, Then be tired, They didn't seem as bad When you said you'd do them too Plus the magic words, "With you."
With me. With you.
I like the way you laugh, and the way you make me, too. I like the way silence sounds, and the way we're out of the blue. I like the way I feel myself, you make me feel new, I like the way we sit here alone, now let me feel you...
So that I'd feel like a flying balloon you've blown into As if your breath were helium. Or smoke. Or mint. I don't really care.
And that light had to be southern. That moon had to be right. You know what's next here, so Just stay with me.
"I'm coming home with you."
With me. With you.
See, I don't need to 'cause home is when I'm next to you.
And I like the way you hold my hand It's as if you're holding my heart too,
And that you'd let me go not because my palms sweat, But because you'd point to me those floating stars That I sure won't forget.
Because I was with you. And you were with me.
And the next time I kiss you, I won't need a gentle shotgun pointing at me. © 2011 hardluckbabyAuthor's Note
