Are We Really United

Are We Really United

A Poem by kelvin
"

Ignorance within Our Nation

"

Ignorance in addition to prejudice is internationally known by all races, creeds, and developing human species.

It’s a shame when our country is fighting within itself. When outsiders coming in doing massive destruction to our nation’s health.

Yet we try to be big brother or father figure to other nations, ignoring our own nation’s situations, like hunger, the homeless, and missing exploited women and children sold into slavery.

Then we act divided instead of united while one class of people try to take care of what they consider their own kind, leaving the other class to the wolves with neither side wanting to compromise .

So the rich stay rich, living in life’s utopian bliss, while back lashing the middle and lower working class breaking their backs while working to keep our country going while in her turmoil.

We have suicidal bombers causing millions of dollars of damage. While the news saying kids shooting kids up in schools all for the lust of blood being spilled on our country’s soil.

Prejudice is a wicked virtue. When people are killed or even hurt from the twisted beliefs of others thinking you’re having an affair against your race for dating or congregating outside your own race.

Then judges and jurors convicting a life or death sentence on the sometimes innocent just because of their race or how they even look. Who the hell are they to play god.

In god we trust, are the words labeled across our nation’s currency. Which is reproduced and distributed in a daily fashion, but yet they say our nation is still in a critical deficit.

So where does our nation’s currency go if not in the hands of power hungry officials stuck on greed and corruption with their own impure agenda. Or does it go into the bribery of other countries for self fulfillment.

This we’ll never know.

It looks like our country is built for our leaders, the rich, and the powerful, for our leaders, the rich, and powerful. Leaving the middle and lower working class to work and break their backs for less plausible wages.

So are we really united, that’s the question.

Tell me what you think this is a very good read if i may say so myself strong and powerful statement.
I myself love my country for this is my birth place its a beautiful place, a place where opportunity always waiting to be spoken to but I'm not talking on the good I'm merely stating some of the bad issues our country has for i can say we have come a long way but there's plenty of work still to be done, for our country could be so much better, just think if it was no racism, murder, rape, hate, and so on and so on and we all cared for each other something to think on

Although I believe it is God's will to have classes and colors and races and nations and diversity in nature and people I believe we should create the opportunity for people to move up the ladder of positions and success. And although I don't believe in socialism but I believe that God wills us freely to give in charity and alms... People need to take responsibility for their individual lives and their future and create success with the odds or against the odds. Like John F. Kennedy quoted from Gibran Khalil's work : Think not what your country can do for you, think what you can do for your country.
This country is the land of opportunity and I have seen and witnessed success stories from all races and actors and athletes and politicians and so forth... I know there is a lot of work to be done in the USA but it is still the best system in my opinion as far as freedoms that is God given which the USA preserve it and as far as technology , the universities , the arts , the music even in poetry which I or all of us are contributing to the literature ...
You are spreading a good message which shows you care about your country's welfare and all the people in it to be a united front against ignorance , intolerance , and racism and capitalist exploitation of the people and the rampant violence and drug addiction and abuse of women and children ... Let us all be the change and you are one of those dear poet... A great message here... :)

Think there is a lack of leadership throughout the world. Power and greed, politicians all the same. As for big brother muscle and power diverting attention from real problems. Thought provoking write.

I enjoyed your thoughts, but for it to be fully erased I would feel delusional...we can strive for it, for future generations...there will always be such things because its in our human nature...I believe, in character, which I see the morals decaying in our future generations....there's always going to be those hateful, mind my language, b*****s and a*****e in any race or gender belief...I've learned, that not all are like that...that its character base for me on an individual bases...socially, its tough to say, and we have made strides in our life time...we can only strive for the best in the future. Nicely written.

A very powerful statement being made by you here Kelvin. I would just like to add that the rich-poor economic divide, classism and casteism prejudice, terrorism and rampant corruption are a reality in every part of the world amd more so even in my country too. I am very skeptical of all the so-called revolutionaries and activists and movements as I have seldom seen things change and things can only start improving when each one of us changes from within. Little changes lead to greater ones. I am sorry if I sound disillusioned but that's how I feel at the moment.
But you have expressed your thought process very eloquently and for that my cpmpliments friend.

I hear you that's all we can do my friend shine bright.
We ARE divided, and that has been an orchestrated plan, in the works for years...divide and conquer, its happening right before our eyes and most ppl are too ignorant or brain-washed to care...but its our job (poets and artist) to wake them up, this write does just that!

Keep lighting fires man,
great message!

this touches on pretty much what ails the entire world, not just america. i lay a good portion of the blame on leadership ... in all countries. strong, moral, fair-minded leadership would go a long way toward healing the wreck this country and the world have become. elected leadership supposedly reflects the temperament of the majority of its people. all i can say is God help America and all of us.

Powerful statement Kelvin. I agree with Sami, we must individually be the change we wish to see, because the only person I can change is me, hopefully by example I can create a ripple effect. We all have this ability, but one must be willing to stand up, be willing to change themselves then spread the message by doing. We cannot sustain as we are, so by default...change will come, so I ask, how can we be a part of a positive change that will raise up a more peaceful, compassionate, and empathetic people?

Thought provoking write Kelvin, one that makes us all pause for thought....

Hear! Hear! You said so yourself, so Yes, take a bow, it's most powerful in it's delivery, like the rockets red glare of poetry! You certainly let the bombs burst with this one! I do agree, we have a great powerful nation, unfortunately it's run by the almighty dollar for the most part. Isn't everything these days? I have no answer for your question but I do know that' I'd not want to live anywhere else. Kudos, you did an outstanding job with this one.
