The ice candy

The ice candy

A Poem by hardeep sabharwal

On the road, my way back to home,
Where sun was shedding more angers even,
My brisk walk came to halt,
When I noticed my sweet sister and her friend,
At ice candy vendor, innocent faces,
Hands shining with ice candies,
My little eye's windows opened at the candy,
But my pockets were so small for coins,
And her kit's last one was utilized,
My mouth was though closed,
Like the magical cave of Alibaba' s story,
But she sensed his brother's golden imagination,
And put the candy in my hand,
And a contentment was clearly seen in her eyes,
When my tongue was on saccharined ice,
More magical thing than the Khul ja Sim Sim,
Now years after years passed,
Ice candy never tasted so delicious again,
Life is not at all magical now,
Neither me and my sister got any time to walk together,
Sisters bring happiness, I know,
On this road or any other,
Whenever a sister with her little brother walk laughingly,
My mouth is filled with the sweetness of ice candy .

Great childhood memory piece hardeep. When I was a kid we walked up to the little general food store and got Popsicles AKA icecandies. I was raised in the rural south where there were no icecream vendors. You just hiked up to the store if you wanted anything

Child is not the best time of life. Anytime is the best time of life if we make it so.

very very touchy poem..... our siblings are the most precious part of our childhood...we fight with each other, tease each other...irritate each other so much but in the end we know that we can depend on them for everything... they always stand in our tough times.... awesome man...loved it....

Thank you so much :)
This one melted my heart. A very innocent thing can carry great value in your memories. Then we are forced to ask was it worth to grow up and lose all beauty of life.

This was really a sweet poem which reminded me of my childhood with my brother n sister...that child like innocence indeed fades away as we grow up and all that is left are the beautiful memories like these!

siblings share sweet treasures in youth that transcend a lifetime of "every day".... this is a lovely memory shared with nostalgic enchantment.. mine is of cotton candy and my baby brother, this reminded me of those times... nicely done my friend.. you always touch me with the honesty in your writes..
