Water

Water

A Poem by hardeep sabharwal
"

Sometimes thirst itself becomes life

"
To live in a hot country is not easy,
And without water, strange I am living,
Infinite years of thirst, eyes gazing up,
If He can offer me any water, water!
What I am without water?
An empty vessel only, a wilderness,
cannot offer shadow, do not even fruit,
Who will like to sit on me to take rest,
I am a sand only, unrefined,
Only water can change me, make me pure,
With its immaculate drops, I will be an oasis than,
What I will be with water?
I will be nothing, everything will be water,
It will change me, make me new,
To change will crush my individuality,
It will break the continuity of wait,
Wait everlasting in an interrupting life,
I will be lost than, lost forever,
I will be water than, water will be me,
That is why I am saying it,
The only thing I need is water,
The only thing I need not is water.

there are two scenarios which are contrasting here, you need water and you need not. You need water to change because now you are feeling like an empty vessel but if it's filled you are not happy with because you will afraid of loosing individuality. I think, this plainly is dilemma. Where one has to be dynamic enough to change but one does not wish too, but I read somewhere the philosophy is like a wax. It would be remain even if you change the form. The water may change you but adaptability matters a lot, or else the current will sink you.

Well done! When the character looks up and says "If He can offer me any water", it makes me wonder if it's a literal thirst or a more metaphorical, spiritual one.

Thanks a lot Jesse
I understand this poem. Heat is hard. Can't escape and water is needed. I could feel the need in the poem for the gift of water. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I like "...With its immaculate drops,..." If only all water was still like that. Nice subject to write about.

i guess there are 3 meanings of water here ..love, water as one of the element of 5elements forming body, and water as something negative..a forgettable memory? not sure about the third one , NICE WRITE

I think if you are part of the water you seek you will not lose your own identity but find many others.
