What is poetry, I dont know
still I am writing it
not this that I am pretending to be
It comes naturally to me, and
I can concieve it as hen lay eggs
or a woman bore a child,
It is not great, very simple
as ordinary as I am myself
I know my limitations and also
my poetry 's , but how can each
mother raise her child to zenith,
effort is the must, I know as
you can show the path, if not compel
and I have chosen a path which is
Not didactic not philosophical
the path that leads to greatness,
But only it is an emotional way
T
o express human feeling
Which states a sorrow simply
A sorrow, a laughter simply a laughter,
a path that do not take us into
deeper, symbolic or spiritual world
It only surfaces materialistic needs,
Because I belong to a world
Which is really materialistic
And my poetry too.
Hardeep,
Thank you for entering my POETRY contest, and congratulations on placing 2nd overall, with an excellently written poem.
I very much enjoyed the manner in which you've used creative metaphor in expressing how you feel about poetry, your poetry in particular, and how you view it.
In editing your work: Correct punctuation and capitalization greatly effect the mood and mode in which your readers feel and understand your poetry, and always correct any typos, such as the separated "T" and "o". Consider separating the long passage of your poetry into verses, in order to hold your readers' interest, allowing it to be easier to follow in content and thought changes.
Again, "Thank you for entering my contest" and "Congratulations!" for placing 2nd! ⁓ Richard

the first two lines are so simple that they are really phenomenal, I also really enjoy the compassing you made of poetry to life , or a child, how its raised and guided into its potential.
Nicely written your views on poetry.
Poetry is something that a poet writes in his words to reveal or hide his real feelings. As I feel it is ambigious form of literature it takes the meaning what readers want to choose for it.
Not every poem is a prayer but every prayer (if it comes from the heart) is a poem. A fellow named Paul once observed that, "knowledge PUFFS up but love LIFTS up" I believe there is the same difference between prose and poetry. I believe prose simply communicates but poetry elevates. Or...it can be for simple entertainment purposes...in which case it stimulates an emotional response from the reader; either sympathetic or empathetic. In the end it will be the reader's voice and not the author's which determines whether or not a piece is considered poetry. In that sense it becomes like beauty...a thing in the eye of the beholder. Nicely penned.
Poetry is the laughter, tears, joy and sadness written upon a sheet of paper to show us. Life is okay. Would be sad world without books, music and art. I like how you defined poetry. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You say that you are writing on the surface. So am I, really. But Baby R. is right. Poetry is the meaning readers find in it, and yours is certainly deeper than mine.
Hardeep Sabharwal describes himself as person of few words. He is one of millions of middle class Indians who do not have any ideology; they only want to live a peaceful life. The thing that hurts him.. more..
