Type of Crime?

Type of Crime?

A Poem by HappySad

Am I a type of crime?

I have seen more than most and now I notice how it’s all benign. No matter what we do. Do we make a difference? Is there a system? Are we alive or just doing time?

I’ve done battle, followed the rest into a pen, prodded just like cattle. Fired a gun, hidden from the sun…why do I run? I’m a type of crime.

I’ve seen the world, seen lives unfurled and have been the cause. Been told that I have saved more than some.

But like the heard you can’t hear my word. Battle is made just because. Killings happen no matter the cause and without my governments love.

I’m not in jail. My life was for sale. I am told that I have done no wrong. I’m not dead so deserve no flag or song. I’m a type of crime.

I don’t believe it, even though I’ve heard the word No more than a single time. So tell me again.

Am I a type of crime?
