mermaids

mermaids

A Poem by New Dawn
"

snapshot

"

We are last on the beach,

determined to eat

despite the wind that bows

the beach tent almost in two.

I sit huddled ,

arms wrapped around sleeping child,

Whilst anaemic sausages attempt to tan

on disposable coals.

Seagulls watch with impatient eye

cawing wistfully at the slowly

warming bounty

and out on the sandbank

our daughters dance and twirl

caught up in a game of mermaids

against a pink and orange sky

~ am back... and this is absolutely beautiful... ~ you remind me of some very precious memories of my nephew... i loved it when he was into dancing in a big way... he'd make me forget all my worries... :)

This is a vivid, image filled poem. Wonderful flow and content. My grandmother called this, "making memories."

thanks michael - typical summer evening on a cornish beach - and I have the pictures to prove it.
