when I was just a little boy

being happy to be yourself

When I was just a little boy

I ran away to sea,

I thought I'd be a pirate

But it wasn't right for me.

I made the baddies walk the plank

And I captured lots of gold

But the waves , they made me sea-sick

And the water was too cold.

When I was just a little boy

I dreamed of Robin Hood

So I left my home to find him

In the Forest Of Sherwood.

I helped him fight the Sheriff

And made friends with his Merry Men

But I didn't like just wearing green

and so I left and then.....

I thought I'd be an Astronaut

And fly amongst the stars

See if the Moon was really cheese

And maybe visit Mars.

But the rocket flew so quickly

And the stars , they all were white

The Moon was made of moondust

Which tingles when you bite!

So I flew down to Earth again

and ran home for my tea,

Deciding maybe , after all

I was happier being ME.

This is light and precious! Perfect for a child or a grown up child! It reminds me of my son when he was little talking about all the things he wanted to do with no care or limitations.
"and so I left and then....." this line is so sweet because it sounds the way a little one does when they are going on and on and telling a tale.

Love the ending especially.
