Winter Beach

Winter Beach

A Poem by New Dawn

Winter beach
winter bleached
pebbles,
worn smooth
by brackish hand
held in palm and pocket
a solid memory.

Captured footprints
wax and wane
in frothy tide as
huddled
in too thin coats,
we pause to watch
a pale sun
cast tepid warmth
across the moon,

warming our hands
with coffee breath
until shadows wrap
and tug us slowly home.

Beautiful lines, you transported me there. Very nicely composed.

Reminds me of the time when as a boy I flew a kite over the Margate beach, and an old man tried to explain to me how if I flew the kite high enough, it would enter the "second sky"

~ gorgeous poetry... the warmth of togetherness is so magical... and even in winter... a trip to the beach is warm enough to ignite the light of precious, shared moments...
