Mothers Day

Mothers Day

A Poem by New Dawn

You tip-toe in

laden with gifts,

a tray of

too sweet tea

and overdone toast

that sheds crumbs

upon the bed.

Little glass vase

of hand-picked flowers

harvested from beneath

the apple tree,

and a card

diligently adorned

with felt tip hearts,

yet it's the shy smile

drawn to your face

by my heartfelt thanks

that is the sweetest gift

this mothers day morn.

Incredible. A diamond. David

ah, that humble, shy, uneasy smile...

sometimes it does make us uneasy to accept praise or thanks.

this moved me...and moves me.

There is no experience in life sweeter or more rewarding than to receive such pure love from a child--especially your child.

~ oh, gosh... this is just so adorable... i love the way you mentioned the "too sweet tea and overdone toast"... i love the "little glass vase" and "the hand-picked flowers" and their location "beneath the apple tree"... and the "diligently adorned card"... and i love that "shy smile" the most too... you live the poetry you write, dearest shelley... and that is just divine... i almost feel a part of this beautiful scene... i'm sure you're one of the cutest moms on earth... and your little ones are even cuter... lovely love-filled poem... it's a gorgeous dose of sunshine... from your part of the world this time... thank you for this light and warmth... :)
