Marmalade Vodka

Marmalade Vodka

A Poem by New Dawn
"

suffering the after effects of my parents wedding day

"

Vodka bruised brain

attempts to break free

from the confines of my skull,

pulsating with alien- like intensity.

Oh to have a fine- bored drill

that I might relieve the pressure,

and quell the nauseating

rise and fall

accompanying every motion.

If only the clock

would reverse its' hands

that I might have the wisdom

to decline the offered glass,

and knowingly resist the allure

of this demonic

marmalade drink.

I must say that Marmalade Vodka sounds like quite an interesting drink. Although, you have shown very well what the hangover is like. The first four lines were my favorite. I also liked how your second stanza presented that jump in time. That was a nice touch.

Clockwork

You are welcome. I can imagine :-)
i see this also as a metaphor...there are things we do or partake in that seem like a good idea at the time...but often come back to bite us later...in some form or another.

there is always allure in that which might be bad for us...for instance a relationship...

one little correction: "if only the clock would reverse its hands"

but nice wording in this...

and you took something as simple as a hangover, and gave it other possibilities.
