Quagmire

Quagmire

A Poem by New Dawn

We used to walk side by side

but lately I have been

carrying you.

The shadow you,

that weighs so little

and fits comfortably on my back.

Our journey to the sunny side,

is hazardous.

The sat-nav has left us

high and dry.

The map is nothing more

than a spaghetti of destinations

written in a language neither of us speaks.

Perhaps if we were to keep

the sun on the left

and study closely

the moss on trees

we might yet find a way

through this quagmire

back to that point

before it all began.

~ this is one helluva love poem... damn... i'm still rubbing my eyes... if there's one way to negotiate the "quagmire", this is it... loved the imagery... the map and the need to look for directions a certain way is perfect... and, the end is to die for... sometimes, we need to retrace our steps... and that happens while we are actually going forward... it's a dimension of love that i'm very familiar with... it sounds contradictory but is about being spiritually linear... excellent work...

Beautifully done. Being lost in more than mere direction. The use of a map and being lost referring to a couple being lost is so simple, when someone like yourself points it out to us.
