Shout at The Moon

Shout at the moon

for he alone will understand

your ramblings and your pain

.

Not the sun with her fiery temper

nor the stars who turn their backs

in mild disdain.

Shout at the moon

for he will surely listen

.

Take the time to lend a thoughtful ear,

see through your thinly veiled anger

to recognise your fear

Shout at the moon

stand tall and fill your lungs

,

bellow out your sorrow to the sky

in hope that he might deem to offer comfort

place a hand upon your shoulder as you cry

shout at the moon

for he will heed your call

wait patiently until your voice has grown

silent and never once condemn you

for he acknowledges your solitude

as his own.

interesting.you treat the moon as a he yet attribute it with magnanimity and sorrow that i feel is distinctively feminine.you have made the sun look like an amazon.that's really unique,to me at least.

Thank you again - don't know why but I have always felt the moon to be friendlier than the sun and I guess I think of the moon as a he because of the man in the moon legend. This poem was really about the futility of sorrow and anger that no-one else can truly comprehend - the moon has no choice but to listen to your ranting as he has nowhere else to go. Glad you enjoyed it anyway and thanks for the insight :)
