Enough

I thought it might have been enough

to say the words,

chant them over and over

as though repetition

might add both strength

and truth to them.

I thought it might have been enough,

to hold things together,

create a perfect little tensile bubble,

unpenetrable by the outside world,

where we could rest

untouched, rocking back and forth

in our mantra,

I love you, I love you I love you!

I thought it might have been enough...

but it wasn't.
