Rhythm of LifeA Poem by New Dawn
Our house bled noise, thrummed with sound , like a boom box at full volume. The very foundations pulsing
with a reggae beat of life so loud that even in remembrance I am tempted to cover my ears.
Even at night the house played a whispered symphony of breathing , that rustled the curtains
and drifted softly out into
the street.
The wallpaper too was loud, a deafening clash of green and purple, turquoise and orange, a visual cacophony of sound compelling you to shou t just to be heard.
Yet I miss it still
And I wonder if I were to sit on those stairs and peel back the layers of woodchip pressing my ear flush to the plaster would I hear it somehow? That reggae song of life thrumming gently across the years muffled by time but just as vibrant
steady as a heart beat. © 2012 New DawnReviews
