Steamforged Games have announced a partnership with developer Jagex which will see the release of RuneScape to tabletops later this year. The MMORPG will receive not just two but two tabletop games: a table game and a tabletop RPG game. The board game will debut on Kickstarter at some point in the year while the tabletop RPG will immediately hit stores.

Both games will take inspiration from RuneScape's fantasy world, Gielinor. They will make use of various characters and adventures, and places they MMORPG has made famous in its lengthy time. The board game takes up maximum of 5 players in a quest-based adventure through the vast lands of Gielinor.

The official press announcement released by Steamforged gamers will "craft and upgrade their equipment, upskill their characters, prepare special meals, interact with NPCs, and test their abilities while exploring different parts of the globe". Just as with the game, players will come across side-quests to enhance the world of the game.

In addition, the TTRPG will comprise an exquisitely illustrated book filled with the necessary information required by players to run the RuneScape TTRPG. The players will be able to build their own characters as they set off on a journey into the world of Gielinor to make "unique and thrilling adventures". Plus, the TTRPG core book can be "fully compliant with rules of fifth edition of the world's most popular tabletop role-playing game".
