RemembranceA Poem by Hanna McGivernThis poem is a bit of a ramble and a bit of a soul-dump onto the page.Alcoholic rain spits on images dirtier than last weeks trash.
Cloud my judgement and east the ever present pain that is a stab to the externally wounded.
I never asked for a change, a pass to restricted knowledge exclusive to victims.
Drink away my past hoping there won't be a next. Futures uncertain with a hint of rage tinted with raw sores that bleed with repetitive thoughts.
Numb me. Cut me off. Silence my haggard breath.
This burden didn't come with a manual.
I will never forget. It will never sink in. The nagging agony deserves to be drugged into submission.
Someone set me free from this undignified agony. © 2013 Hanna McGivern |
